Fruit production in Bangladesh has increased at a significant rate in two decades due to favorable weather conditions. Bangladesh has a proud position in the list of top ten countries in the production of seasonal fruits in the world.

Mango is the king of fruits. In terms of nutrition, taste or smell, the color of the matchless fruit called mango is a combination of loads. With time this fruit is becoming more in demand. This fruit is in great demand not only in the home yard but also in the orchard, the fruit-bearing Miyazaki or perennial Katiman is sufficient.

Mangoes grow well in almost all types of soil, but hilly areas are good for early varieties of mangoes. The arrival of ripe mangoes before the honey month of the fruit fascinates the thirsty. It can be said that early mango varieties such as Chaiti, Baisakhi, Surat Bombay, Golapkhas, Govindbhoga, Laxmanbhoga begin to ripen in May. Chaiti Agam variety of mango is very popular in the market. Another early variety of mango is Baisakhi. This mango is named Baisakhi because it ripens in the month of Baisakh. The thin-skinned, fiberless, tasty variety has a relatively long shelf life. 4-5 of these medium sized mangoes are 1 kg. Another early breed is Surat Bombay; Although the variety is small in size, the amount of edible parts is high due to the thinness of the stem. The pods are orange in color, fragrant and without scales. Golapkhas; The variety is called Golapkhas because the ripe mango smells like rose flowers. Medium size Golapkhas variety mango is slightly elongated. Being a very early variety, the demand for this variety is high in the market. Ripe fruits look beautiful but taste slightly sour-sweet. The Govindbhog variety is the sweetest to mention among the Agam Ashu variety mangoes available in Bangladesh. This superior variety of mangoes is mostly produced in Satkhira and Jessore districts. This mango ripens in early May and ripens in mid. Now let's talk about symptoms. This breed is also popularly known as Lakhna. Lakshmanbhog is a commercially viable variety as it is able to bear fruit every year. The shape of the fruit is oval. Although the skin is thick but the flesh is thin, the taste and aroma of this mango variety are in great demand in the market. This breed is mostly grown in Rajshahi, Natore and Chapainawabganj.

Summer holidays come to mind when we talk about seasonal varieties of mangoes. At this time, the nature of Bengal becomes beautiful with the collection of ripe and unripe fruits. Among the mango varieties to be mentioned during this period, Langra, Arapali, Himsagar, Banana Mango, Handibhanga, Gopalbhog, Ranipachand mangoes are at the peak of popularity. It is said that Langra mangoes were first cultivated by a Fakirbaba suffering from leg problems, so this variety has such a strange name. The taste of this medium-sized fruit is incomparable. The oval-round shape of unripe mangoes also has an attractive smell. Juicy shell, fragrant, this excellent variety of small flour is very popular in our country. Fazli mangoes are grown in large quantities in Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, Natore, Kushtia. Although the average weight is 610 grams, it can weigh up to 1 kg. Yellow skin, pulpless, juicy, delicious, long, flat, thin. Fazli mango ripening starts from 1st week of July.

Handibhanga is a very well-known and popular mango variety of Bangladesh. This mango originates from Rangpur district. Its tree characteristics are worth mentioning. The stems of the tree spread more sideways than upwards. As a result, the trees are not uprooted by the stormy winds and the mangoes also fall relatively less. Although Himasagar is the famous mango of West Bengal, this mango is cultivated commercially all over the world for its pulpless, sweet taste and aroma. These mangoes come to the market at the end of June. This mango is cultivated commercially in Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj and Satkhira districts. The Arpali variety was developed by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in the 1970s by hybridizing the 'Dasheri' and 'Neelam' varieties. Later, Director General of Agriculture Extension Department Enamul Haque and Chuadanga hybrid nursery manager Abul Kalam Azad jointly imported the Arapali variety to Bangladesh. Ejat is able to bear fruit every year and its commercial production has been successfully started. At present, 30% of the mangoes produced are Arapali. The structure of the plant is small, its sweetness is more than Langra or Himsagur. This fruit is dark orange-red when ripe, high in vitamin 'A' content. Banana mango is one of the many varieties of foreign mangoes that are gaining acceptance day by day. The Thai variety is being cultivated commercially in hilly areas and in Chapainawabganj, the capital of mangoes. Apart from this, this variety is an ornamental for garden like banana in home garden or roof garden. Ripe mango is 350 grams. The market price of this mango is high because of its attractive shape and incomparable taste and smell, ripe fruit, milky color. The Gopalbhog mango variety is available in the market for a very short time. This breed is grown in almost all the districts of the country. The skin of the mango is thick but the batter is thin. Round shaped mangoes are green when raw, yellow-reddish when ripe. It should be noted that the position of this variety is after the Langra mango known as the king of mangoes.

Nabijat Bari Mango-4 is a high-yielding Nabi variety suitable for cultivation all over the country. Gaurmati mango is one of the most popular mangoes in the market. The ancient public road of Bengal is 'Gau' and Moti in terms of value; Which together is Gaurmati. This very sweet, fragrant variety is available till mid-October, the market price favoring mango farmers as it is an unseasonal fruit.
